Bell Laboratories

Bell Laboratories announced the launch of its newly registered rodenticide Contrac California Bromethalin Blox. As the name suggests, Contrac California Bromethalin Blox are made with the single-feed acute active ingredient bromethalin. Bell says its 28-gram all-weather blocks are expected to provide PMPs the confidence and results they have been accustomed to when using Bell’s other Contrac products.

Registered only for use in the state of California, Contrac California Bromethalin Blox specifically meets all state regulatory requirements for structural rodenticide use. Available for shipment now (EPA Registration No. 12455-151), the product is packaged in an 18-pound pail with a blue lid for easy differentiation.

MGK

MGK recently introduced the all-new Sumari System. Designed to work in tandem, the combination of Sumari Insecticide and Sumari Ant Gel Bait enhances treatment results through both direct contact and ingestion, while providing long-lasting control, MGK says. Optimal performance is achieved when the two products are used together.

Sumari Insecticide concentrate provides fast-acting and long-lasting control of ants, including multi-queen species, as well as a broad spectrum of other insects. This all-in-one solution can be used indoors and out, including outdoor broadcast, has no signal word and contains NyGuard IGR, MGK adds.

Sumari Ant Gel Bait is a highly palatable, consistent matrix that delivers long-lasting control of ants, killing within 24 hours and eliminating colonies within one to two weeks, MGK reports.

AP&G

AP&G Co. announced that the Catchmaster Ovi-Catch Mosquito Trap received the Federal Lab Consortium Award for Excellence in Technology Transfer. These awards, which have been given for the past 30 years, recognize successful partnerships between a federal lab, in this case the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and an industry partner, AP&G, in making inventions into useful products, with demonstrated success.

AP&G says the Federal Lab Consortium Awards are ranked as some of the most prestigious honors in the technology transfer field and are given as a symbol of well-deserved recognition for significant technological efforts.

The Ovi-Catch Mosquito Trap uses mosquitoes’ breeding habits against them and is designed to mimic mosquito breeding sites. “The trap is particularly effective against the Asian tiger mosquito, the yellow fever mosquito and the Culex house mosquitoes,” said Stan Cope, AP&G Co. vice president of Technical Products & Services. Mosquitoes are lured to the trap by the design and use of water, which they need to complete their breeding cycle. Mosquitoes attempt to enter the trap to lay eggs, are prevented from reaching the water by a screen and become stuck on a glueboard inside.

The trap was initially developed by the CDC at the agency’s Puerto Rico research and testing facility. Researchers at the facility were using AP&G adhesives in various projects, but as work on the trap accelerated during the Zika virus scare, so did AP&G’s role consulting with CDC on the project. After securing a product license for the trap and working with the CDC’s parent organization, the National Institutes of Health, AP&G lent its large-scale manufacturing muscle to the process. AP&G introduced the product to the professional pest management industry in 2018.

Woodstream Corporation

Woodstream Corporation recently introduced its new TERRO Wasp & Hornet Killer aerosol (item #T3300-6), which is a water-based formula that greatly reduces staining issues and contains the active ingredients tetramethrin and sumithrin, the company says. Available in a 19-ounce can that provides excellent knockdown, the spray is designed to reach 20 feet high and foams up to coat the nest and insects for a complete kill, the company says.

Averzion

Averzion is a new pest control technology that uses a one-time, clear-coat formula to stop scorpions and other crawling pests from entering structures. The physical barrier, developed by Gilbert, Ariz.-based pest control company Scorpion Repel, is now available to pest control companies nationwide. The manufacturer says its one-of-a-kind treatment will allow PMPs to offer homeowners and business owners a guaranteed option for eradicating scorpions and other crawling pests from buildings.

The pesticide-free formula is applied to the base of a home or office’s exterior, hardening to create a glasslike surface that pests, including the venomous bark scorpion, can no longer climb due to the slickness. The clear-coat application does not discolor the home or building and is barely visible, Averzion says. The physical barrier is comparable to other barrier techniques in affordability, while delivering longer lasting and more effective results, the company says.

Chekkit

Chekkit is a provider of customer interaction and reputation management software for pest control companies across North America. Chekkit says it helps pest control companies stand out online, earn reviews from any review site and show up highly ranked where customers are searching.

Chekkit also allows businesses to engage with customers on the channels they prefer, making it convenient for the customer to do business, and the company to win more new customers, the firm says. Interactions Chekkit engages with include Google, Facebook business messenger, SMS, landline texting and Webchat.

Chekkit also offers on-the-go text-to-pay and videochat. The company says technicians can send a text, get paid fast or hop on a videochat to stay connected with customers.
