Late last year, Nozzle Nolen Pest Control, West Palm Beach, Fla., announced it acquired Advanced Pest Control and as such, the firm now offers state-of-the-art heat treatments for bed bugs. Advanced Pest Control, founded in 1994, is known for its low-impact/green pest control practices under the leadership of owner Scott Gosney.
Nozzle Nolen is a family-owned and -operated pest management company that last year celebrated its 65th year in business. “My father moved up from Miami in ’51 and started the company with a beat-up pick-up truck and some big and audacious dreams,” says Mickey Nolen, president of Nozzle Nolen Pest Control. “His first year’s revenue was $600 back when my mother was the first woman to become a certified pest control operator in the state of Florida. Now we service over 20,000 customers a year! I am inspired by our history and excited about our future. We currently have the best team of employees from sales, service and support in the company’s history.”
Waggoner says FSS also will continue its tradition of regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship, even if regulatory oversight is softened. “FSS replaced its structural fumigation uses of methyl bromide in 2004, well ahead of the phase-out schedule,” he says. “We implement best practices for the use of fumigants and other general-use insecticides, including working to reduce the use of environmentally harmful molecules like methyl bromide, not because it is easier or because it has been mandated, but because it is the right thing to do.”
