Bird-X
www.bird-x.com
For some years, Bird-X has offered a flying Great Horned Owl to chase off pest birds. The airfoil design makes the 4-foot wingspan quiver and move in the slightest breeze, giving a frighteningly real quality to the product, the company said. Now in a new redesign, the Bird-X R&D team has made Prowler Owl even more natural and realistic. Birds’ instincts can be used against them — they survive by avoiding threats like owls and other predators. But it has to be something they can’t get used to, something scary that moves and changes, the company said, explaining why it made its flying Prowler Owl even scarier.
The design was drawn from actual images of owl plumage — taken from multiple angles — to get the realistic feathers printed onto the wings and belly, and a clay artist created a unique, original head in an authentic flight position, the company said, adding that this head formed the basis for the production mold. Besides its terrifying aspect from the perspective of smaller birds, the company said that it recognized that a realistic owl is attractive in an of itself — so if people are using one of these on a property where visuals matter, it’s a natural look.

The Station Boot
www.thestationboot.com
The Station Boot is a lightweight, 18-gauge galvanized steel tool for cutting the turfgrass that grows over termite monitoring stations. To use, the company said, locate stations visually or with an Interrogator; place The Station Boot over it and stomp the top. Then grab the handle, remove and swipe the cut grass. This leaves termite stations clean and homeowners feeling confident in the service they have received, the firm says.
