LG Life Sciences
LG Life Sciences announces a "buy 3 get 1 free" promotion for Lambdastar 9.7% CS and Fenvastar Plus 8.4% EC. Through July 31, when PCOs purchase 3 pints of Lambdastar 9.7% CS or Fenvastar Plus 8.4% EC, they get 1 pint free. PCOs should contact their distributor to take advantage of this in-season savings opportunity.
Lambdastar 9.7% CS with EcoCap Technology can be used as a perimeter spray for multiple occasional invaders, ants, roaches, scorpions, spiders, stink bugs and also for mosquito barrier sprays as well as residual fly control (in combination with Rockwell’s Invite fly attractant) in stables, barns and around dumpsters. It is for use on lawns, trees and shrubs.
Fenvastar Plus 8.4% EC is ideal for indoor use against roaches, fleas (even broadcast carpet spray), stored product pests and carpenter ants. PCOs have used it diluted in water as a general EC surface spray, but also diluted with oil and applied through Actisol, Patriot or B&G aerosol equipment. It can also be tank-mixed with pyrethrins and an IGR.

FMC Professional Solutions
A new, natural pest control product for use by PMPs to control cockroaches, bed bugs, ants, flies and more than a dozen other pests is now available from FMC. Topia insecticide features a proprietary blend of natural oils with well-documented insecticidal properties. Available in a 17-ounce aerosol can, Topia is a water-based product that delivers contact control of many structural pests. A 25(b) Exempt Product, Topia belongs to a special class of pesticides considered by the EPA to be "Minimum Risk." These products are not subject to federal registration requirements because their ingredients are demonstrably safe for the intended use, FMC reports. Topia is non-flammable and has a very mild aroma that quickly dissipates. As a water-based product, Topia can be applied neatly with low potential for staining or corrosion, and it delivers rapid knockdown and control of problem pests through contact.

BASF
Termidor termiticide/insecticide has a new label with updated use directions for general pest control that make the product more inclusive, BASF reports. The new label directions provide PMPs with more specific guidance on using Termidor SC termiticide/insecticide and Termidor WG termiticide/insecticide for general pest control. The new Termidor label separates "outside surfaces" from "foundation perimeter," with a listing of structures that includes residential, institutional, commercial and industrial buildings and utility enclosures. The improvement to the label directions adds clarity to treatment of structures beyond the one-foot up and one-foot out from the foundation treatments, according to BASF.
PMPs can apply 0.06% Termidor SC or WG finished dilution where listed pests enter the structure, where they trail or crawl and hide, or where their nests are found, according to the label. Treat using a low-pressure coarse-banded pressure spray up to 18 inches in width around doors, windows, vents, pipes, or any other exterior openings and/or with a crack and crevice injection tip into foundation cracks or drilled holes where listed pests could enter the structure. The new label also allows for foam applications into wall voids for general pest control.

Syngenta
Syngenta recently introduced new 16-pound pails of Weatherblok XT rodenticide bait. While the packaging has changed, the bait continues to offer PMPs the benefits of palatability, weatherability and effectiveness against warfarin-resistant mice and rats, the company reports. The new pack size will offer pest management companies the same price per pound of bait as the traditional 11-pound pails. The change in packaging is in response to the rodenticide risk mitigation passed by the U.S. EPA last year. The RMD requires that all second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides containing the active ingredients brodifacoum, bromadiolone, difethialone or difenacoum be sold in unit quantities of at least 16 pounds by June 2011. PMPs may continue using the 11-pound pails of Weatherblok XT until they are phased out through typical distribution channels.
Weatherblok XT contains the single-feeding anticoagulant, brodifacoum, and features a unique shape and gnawing edges, according to the manufacturer. The bait includes Bitrex, the human taste deterrent, and should always be applied out of reach of children, domestic animals and non-target wildlife, or in tamper-resistant bait stations, such as the Syngenta Multiplex Station.
