BURLINGTON, Mass. — The New England Pest Management Association (NEPMA) awarded the Bartlett W. Eldridge Award, the association’s highest honor, to Galvin Murphy Jr. at an awards ceremony held Wednesday evening at Cafe Escadrille in Burlington, Mass.
The Bartlett W. Eldridge Award recognizes an individual who exemplifies a long-term commitment to the betterment of the pest control industry in New England. This accolade celebrates those who have demonstrated unwavering service to the industry, a deep commitment to community involvement and earned the respect of their peers.
With nearly three decades of industry experience, Galvin Murphy Jr. has been a transformative figure in pest management, the association said. His commitment to innovation, education and best practices has not only elevated his own organization, but has also been instrumental in fostering the growth and professionalism of colleagues across the industry.
Over the course of more than 20 years of active involvement in NEPMA, Galvin has served in numerous roles, including on committees, the executive board and as NEPMA President. His tenure as president was marked by a series of significant advancements, including modernizing the association’s website, expanding training opportunities and guiding the transition to a new management company after two decades. He championed inclusivity within NEPMA, ensuring smaller companies felt welcomed and advocating for vendor participation and recognition.
"Galvin is a shining example of leadership, innovation, and service. His peers hold him in the highest regard for his vision, dedication, and ability to bring people together to achieve meaningful change," said David Flynn, President of NEPMA.
Galvin’s contributions extended beyond the regional level. Nationally, he has served on multiple committees with the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), graduated from NPMA's Executive Leadership Program, and represented NEPMA as a SPAR. As a founding member of NPMA’s PestVets Committee, Galvin’s passion for service led to his recognition as NPMA’s Veteran of the Year.
As a U.S. Marine, Galvin served in Iraq during wartime, and his commitment to veterans continues through advocacy, fundraising and direct action. From running marathons to raise awareness to personally funding and improving veteran housing, Galvin’s service exemplifies selflessness and integrity. His local community has also benefited from his efforts, including hosting charity events for organizations like “Bread for Life.”
