CLEVELAND - PCT and sponsor BASF are proud to announce the 2024 Technicians of the Year: Chad Gilbert (Northwest Exterminating, Marietta, Ga.), Dylan Blasingame (Blasingame Pest Management, Griffin, Ga.) and Tim Elliott (Augustine Exterminators, Overland Park, Kan,). This is the 29th consecutive year that PCT and BASF have recognized standout service professionals in the residential, commercial and termite categories.
Joseph Schuh, head of technical service, BASF Professional & Specialty Solutions, said, “Our products are only as good as the men and women in the field who apply/install them. It’s professionals like Chad, Dylan and Tim who motivate us to push the limits. They inspire us to keep learning, share resources and provide training, all while making sure our innovations meet the needs of our customers as they work to thrive and succeed in their markets."
Each winner is profiled in the December issue of PCT. “Congratulations to Chad, Dylan and Tim," said Brad Harbison, senior news editor. "We hope PCT's readers enjoy each of their stories, which take a look at each technicians’ previous vocations, how they’ve found a home in pest control and within their companies, and what makes them such exceptional service technicians. They serve as a great examples to other industry professionals."
Chad Gilbert, PCT's Residential Technician of the Year, has transitioned from saving lives every day on an ambulance to keeping customers safe from pests. His personal service area consists of 1,050 homes and he services on average 15-18 customers daily. Beyond that, he’s always the first to arrive in the office at 6:30 a.m., and usually the last to leave around 6 p.m. Throughout the years, Gilbert has been given added responsibilities, including sitting on Northwest’s safety council with other regional managers.
PCT Commercial Technician of the Year Dylan Blasingame is following in the footsteps of his dad, Billy Blasingame Jr., and industry legend grandfather William E. “Bill” Blasingame Sr. After graduating from Jacksonville State University with a degree in marketing in 2019, he went to work full-time for the family business. Blasingame has made a name for himself servicing food plants and anything related to medical pharma facilities — accounts that are audited and require meticulous recordkeeping.
Tim Elliott, PCT's Termite Technician of the Year, is praised for his thorough termite inspections, product and equipment knowledge, and attention to detail. He’s adept at explaining to his customers the nature of their problem and how Augustine can help remedy the issue. Elliott also has been given additional responsibilities, including hosting new technicians on ride-alongs and holding an annual class to keep current technicians updated on treatment practices/procedures.
