FAIRFAX, Va. – The Pest Management Foundation announced the establishment of the Plunkett’s Pest Control Scholarship, endowed by Plunkett’s Pest Control, headquartered in Fridley, Minn.
Plunkett’s Pest Control established the endowed Plunkett’s Pest Control Scholarship fund in partnership with the Pest Management Foundation. Plunkett’s joins other like-minded companies in offering educational scholarship support to students in the pest control field. One scholarship will be awarded annually in the amount of $1,000.
“Plunkett’s believes strongly in investing in education. We have invested heavily in our employee training over the years. Supporting students in our line of work feels like a natural extension of our philosophy,” said Stacy O’Reilly, owner of Plunkett’s Pest Control.
Eligibility Criteria:
• Student graduating from a high school entering college or trade school, or a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate college student majoring in any field.
• Full time student in good academic standing with a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• Priority given to those whose families serve in the pest control industry.
• Recipients must commit to writing a letter of appreciation outlining how the scholarship has helped them in their academic endeavors.
Application Requirements:
• Resume or curriculum vita.
• Current unofficial academic transcript.
• A one-page (minimum) essay describing applicant’s professional goals and aspirations and how he/she plans to use their studies to contribute to their field.
• At least one (1) letter of recommendation from individuals who can speak to the applicant’s work ethic, academic progress, and how they plan to use their studies to contribute to their field.
• Other supporting documents (research papers and proposals, faculty research participation, related industry internship participation, fellowship projects, industry work experience, etc.) can also be submitted.
